Professor Shulman asked me to create a customized forum to facilitate class-related discussions on-line. He wanted to be able to present a question every week and have the class respond to his question and other student comments.

I built a Perl-based threaded discussion forum and managed the rest of Professor Shulman's web presence as well. The forum had a space at the top in which he could present a different question every week. The class could then respond in the forum for that week. It allowed students to create a new subject or reply to other student comments in a threaded format.

The forum was very successful in facilitating some very healthy debates outside of class, with no technology or usability problems. The site and forum was moved from the University of Oregon, to the University of Puget Sound, to Lane Community College and finally to Providence College.
